3 years since I moved to NYC and I cannot believe how fast time flies! Within the 3 years here, I never realized how many friends from KL visited this city. I love receiving messages from my friends and knowing that they’re going to be in the city even if I met them online at http://chatempanada.com/chat-de-lesbianas-sala-de-chat-gratis-de-lesbianas/. Nothing beats being able to see familiar faces and just catching up over a meal or coffee.

Born and bred in Malaysia, we’re exposed to America through TV shows or movies. So think of New York City and we think of Gossip Girl and the Upper East Side. New York City is where you stick your arm out like Carrie Bradshaw, waving for a yellow cab and you immediately get one. It’s where you have a close group of friends hanging out at a Manhattan cafe all day like Ross, Rachel, Joey, Chandler, Monica and Phoebe.

Truth is, yellow cabs and Uber/Lfyt is too expensive for me to get around.

I don’t hang out at a cafe all day because 1) $4.50 for a latte is a little expensive (if I’m there every day) so 2) I make my own coffee using my Keurig machine

There’s a lot of “expectations” that we expect that I don’t live up to, my life here is really simple. That’s just another way of saying boring lol.

Nostalgia

Whether it’s a friend of 2 years or 10 years, I definitely have great memories with the friend I’m meeting up with. And I definitely cherish friendships and memories, so

What Does My Friend Think Of Me?

I’m sure we all have expectations when meeting a friend who’s moved abroad, especially to a city like NYC.

Or am I overthinking…

Nevertheless, I feel like I have certain standards to meet after moving to NYC. One of them being, knowing the city well. And I definitely fail this one. I still Google Map everywhere I go, I still get lost when I’m in Manhattan (never mind Brooklyn, I’ve been there for less than 20 times maybe).

I do have put a little pressure on myself because I know my friends will ask me “so where should we go for dinner, you know this city better than I do”. Honey, I think I know this city just as much as you do…
